September 2022 - IN MEMORIAM LUC DE SCHUTTER (16-04-1952 - 08-09-2022)
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the unexpected death of our volunteer Luc De Schutter.
After his career in the maritime sector Luc decided to volunteer at the Seamen Centre Zeebrugge for seafarers.
When the Seamen Centre was forced to close in 2020 due to the corona pandemic Luc continued to maintain contacts with our sailors.
Almost daily he was on tour with our van to provide them with the most urgent needs and to tell them a positive story with his familiar smile or with a funny joke.
His passing is a great loss for the Seamen Centre and especially for the many sailors who moor in our harbour.

May 2018 - NEW SHUTTLE BUS FOR SEAMEN CENTRE ZEEBRUGGE
On Wednesday 02 May 2018, the keys of the new shuttle bus for Seamen Centre Zeebrugge were handed over to Erna Vienne, president of the Seamen Centre, on behalf of ITF Seafarers' Trust.
For the third time, ITF Seafarers' Trust bought the bus for the Seamen Centre Zeebrugge, with the aim to offer to the seafarers a comfortable and fast transport system between ship and Seamen Centre.
The Seamen Centre is a place where seafarers can find relaxation as well as moral and material support.
ITF Seafarers' Trust is of the opinion that a well functioning Seamen Centre is of utmost importance for any harbour in the world.
90% of all consumption goods are transported over sea and seamen play an important role in the transport chain.
Therefore, the ITF Seafarers' Trust finances projects that are in the interest of the seafarers' health and welfare.
